So today in A&P we were given an extra credit assignment in which we pay homage to a body part. We can pretty much get as creative as we want with it, so I decided HEY, why not knit a body part and bring it to class? One problem though is that the Professor Formerly Known as Hotbutt specifically stressed that we can’t get obscene with it. Bummer.

Obviously my instinct is to knit a uterus. It’s still amusing without being “obscene” and it would come as no surprise to the professor anyway since I already wrote a paper all about birth control and how awesome it is. But I’m keeping my options open, since this is something I might have to present to the class and I don’t really feel like talking to a bunch of youngins about why I love my uterus. They totally wouldn’t get it.

So I’m surfing Ravelry and these are pretty much my best options as far as knit body parts go - a heart, a tooth, and a brain. Probably going to rule out the brain since it looks like a lot of work and this thing is due in a week. The heart or the tooth would be easy enough. But BASICALLY I’m curious if any knitters out there could point me in the direction of more anatomically-based knits. Preferably something that doesn’t take up a lot of time, is cute, and isn’t a penis/vulva/tit/sperm/etc. because as much as I would love to knit any and all of those things and I know the class would find it hilarious, I don’t think prof would be amused. So help me out, knitbros.

need to knit this.

Just putting this out there because I am super broke but - if these were something you were interested in buying, how much would you pay for them?

I wanna say the yarn was about $3/skein, and I made one pair in two nights, if that’s a factor at all. I’m really bad at pricing stuff since I’m always afraid of ripping people off.

Input would be greatly appreciated by anyone who’s ever sold their knit goods. Or people who enjoy buying knit goods. Or just people who know more about this stuff than I do?

Finished one mitt for mom. The pattern was tedious, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it at first, but it turned out okay. Now the challenge is to make another one.

bonesurf asked: I can't move my work on them at all!!! Seriously, give me aluminum. Whatchoo working on these days?

Ah, see, I don’t like aluminum because I always feel like my work slips off the needles too easily and I always end up dropping stitches. I love bamboo, but I do find that I have to replace them more often which is a pain.

HERE’S WHAT I’M WORKIN’ ON:

Mitts for Matka.

Carnaby skirt. I want to have this done by Christmas but I need at least another skein and no money so fuuuuuuuck.

UNDERWATER-THEMED THINGS FOR A TUMBLRER THAT I LOVE. The mermaid will be less bald once I find the right hair color for her. Also planning on making an octopus and maybe a lobster to go with them.

This is going to be some kind of head wrap… thing. I guess. I’m kind of winging it. But as you can see, I love me some bamboo needles, haha.

Oh.

I have a pretty amazing idea in my head for a knit skirt

And I’m thinking of using Spud & Chloe’s Outer for the pattern because I’m looking for a good bulky yarn and out of all the bulky yarns I’ve used, this is probably my favorite. Only problem is that it’s kind of pricey. So, can anyone recommend a good bulky yarn that’s similar and hopefully cheaper? Bonus if it comes in a nice yellow color like their corn silk. Question mark, so people can answer this?
